It's been a tough
slog for non-profits raising money following the recession, but I am happy to
report we are having a great turn-out for our annual fundraising event at
Bernardus Lodge on September 19. I was
glad to read a story in the Wall Street Journal about a number of
executives which were caught up in the financial mess which caused the
recession. They are now giving back
despite having much of their personal wealth wiped out. Angelo Mozillo from Countrywide Financial
Corp., for instance, recently sponsored a pediatric unit for a hospital, while
B of A's former CEO Kenneth Lewis has given hundreds of thousands of dollars to
various charities. It really is the
thought that counts. If you can afford
to give $1 or $1,000, every bit counts as we try and help seniors in our local
community. Thanks to all of you who have
made donations.
