As a non-profit, we are constantly seeking donations,
sponsorships and volunteers wherever they may come from. It was nice to see the story in the Monterey
Herald about a volunteer at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula
(CHOMP) who is 84 and still going strong.
Roy Lorenz, who has volunteered more than 20,000 hours at the hospital was
profiled. After suffering through the
great depression he developed a strong work ethic, working for 41 years at the
world's largest spice company and then volunteering for 17.5 years at
CHOMP. He has had continuous service
except for 2002, when he took a year off and served as foreman of Monterey
County's grand jury. He and 30-year
volunteer Brian Kelly were honored at a luncheon at Spanish Bay. Congratulations to both of them, keep up your
great work!
