People wait in line two or three hours to visit him. Why, you ask? He charges only $2 for most office visits, but may charge $5 in harder cases. He hadn't raised his prices since he opened the door in 1955 and was seeing about 50 patients per day, making house calls and visiting nursing homes or hospitals. I was happy to see him profiled again in the latest issue of People Magazine. At 87, he still sees patients seven days a week and hasn't taken a vacation in 57 years. He lives off of the income from his farm and draws no salary from the physician's practice. "There are quite a few people who come to see me because they can't afford anybody else. I can help," he told People Magazine. This was a heart warming story to read. Few people give back to the community like Dr. Dohner, I only wish there were more people like him. At Hands To Help Seniors we often talk to people who can't afford even a co-pay to see the Doctor or pick up their medications. Money is very tight for most seniors, particularly those who live on the Monterey Peninsula, one of the most expensive places for a senior to retire. We're helping as many as we can and ask that you continue to help us help seniors in the community by clicking on the donate button above.
